Daniel Island was developed mostly from the late 1990s onward as a planned community, with front porches, parks, ponds and walking trails, a small downtown. Interstate 526 crosses the island, which keeps it close to Mount Pleasant, North Charleston and the peninsula.
Because so much of it was built in the same era, many homes are now reaching their first round of interior updates at the same time: original soaking tubs and standard showers in the primary suites, first-generation cabinets and granite in the kitchens, and carpet upstairs.
A frequent change is to pull out the soaking tub and build a larger tiled walk-in shower with a bench and a recessed niche, then add a new double vanity with a quartz, granite or marble top. Kitchens here usually center on an island that opens to the family room. We make cabinetry to the room or hang ready-made boxes, then plan the island slab and perimeter counters with our stone fabrication partner.
